Official CryptoChallenge #1 Rules and Regulations

CryptoHeaven proudly presents its CryptoChallenge #1. The term of the challenge will be from 12 PM on November 19, 2001 to 12 PM on May 31, 2002. During this term, challengers are provided with a session log file (available for download) and are encouraged to find out content of the secret message the file contains. Should the challenger be successful in deciphering the data in the file, that challenger will be awarded a prize of US $10,000, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The above prize will be awarded once, and only to the Winner.
  2. Winner is a challenger that submits a correct solution first.
  3. Winner must submit a secret message in plain text to CryptoHeaven.
  4. Winner must explain and demonstrate to CryptoHeaven team, and to the satisfaction of CryptoHeaven team, the process, tools, technology, methodology and any other means Winner used to solve CryptoChallenge #1.
  5. CryptoHeaven reserves the right to refuse Winner the prize should Winner’s explanation as to how he/she solved the problem not be legitimate.
  6. No employees of CryptoHeaven or their relatives are eligible to participate or win prizes in any of CryptoHeaven’s cryptographic challenges.

CryptoHeaven reserves the right to change the challenge rules at any time at its sole discretion, without notice, including the right to change or extend the challenge term, to change the prize amount, and/or to terminate the contest. CryptoHeaven is the sole arbiter and administrator for this contest. The judgment of CryptoHeaven in all matters is final.

Once the term of CryptoChallenge #1 expires, or a challenger is confirmed as Winner, the content of the secret message will be posted on CryptoHeaven’s website.

By entering CryptoChallenge #1, you agree to the above Official Rules and Regulations. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from participation. CryptoHeaven reserves the right to permanently disqualify from any future challenges, any person it believes has intentionally violated these rules.
